Our Chosen Charity 2025-2026

Why We’re Supporting Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance

At Seasalter Cross WI (and throughout WI groups everywhere), we believe in stepping up for causes that have a tangible impact on lives in our community. That’s why we are proud to support the Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex (KSS) — a local lifesaving service that works day in, day out to ensure rapid medical assistance in critical emergencies across our region. Every minute truly counts when someone suffers a sudden medical emergency. KSS responds to on average nine emergency calls a day, delivering frontline care and bringing hospital-level treatment to the scene. How We Are Supporting & What It Means

As a WI group rooted in our local area, we’re in a unique position to raise awareness and mobilise support from women across all ages. We can organise talks, fundraising events, collections, and community challenges. In fact, Seasalter Cross WI already featured a talk on the Air Ambulance in one of its recent main meetings. Seasalter Cross Womens Institute Through such events, members and the public come to understand just how critical KSS is — and why their backing matters.

By sponsoring or raising funds, we contribute directly to ensuring that the crews have the most up-to-date kit and the resources to reach people faster. We also help build a culture of readiness: promoting CPR training, first-aid awareness, and general support for emergency services. The more people know and the more funds flow, the stronger and more resilient the charity becomes.

The Benefits — for Our WI & Our Community

  1. Saving lives locally
Supporting KSS means we help ensure that in serious emergencies — be it a road accident, cardiac arrest, or other medical crisis — the fastest possible care is available. That is literally life-saving work, and we can take pride in playing a part.

  2. Raising awareness and skills
Through our events and programmes, we can promote first-response skills (like basic CPR) and encourage neighbours to know what to do when someone collapses. Once awareness spreads, more lives can be saved.

  3. Strengthening community bonds
Working together for a cause like this helps galvanise our membership, gives everyone a sense of purpose, and broadens our reach beyond the WI. People appreciate knowing their local women’s groups care about vital public services.

  4. Amplifying our voice
When WI groups like ours back KSS, we bring additional visibility, influence, and credibility. We can help KSS in recruiting volunteers, in fostering partnerships, and in encouraging local authorities or businesses to support them too.

  5. Legacy & sustainability
Consistent support helps KSS plan for the future, invest in research and innovation, and maintain stable operations. Our contributions (no matter how small) become part of that long-term resilience.
